Abstract

Ischemia is a condition in which the flow of blood and therefore, oxygen to a part of the
body is restricted or decreased. Cardiac ischemia is the decreased flow of blood and oxygen to the
heart muscle. The two patients have an important role through the management of interventions
(pharmacologic or non-pharmacologic) by monitoring the patient's condition in terms of pulses,
ECG, the patient's heart condition and monitoring the activities of these interventions. The study
started from March 12, 2023, until April 29, 2023. A suitable sample was taken from 60 nurses in the
current study. Samples are collected in the intensive care unit and the cardiac center. The current
study's results indicated that most samples (88.33%) of the nurses had poor knowledge of heart
disease. It was found that most of the nurses were females (53.3%), whose ages ranged between (20
28), and the highest percentage of nurses were graduates of the Institute of Nursing (46.7%), and the
nurses lived in urban areas (80%) and those who did not Have experience in an open-heart unit and
who have not been trained in cardiology (60%). Encouraging nurses to study about heart diseases
to increase and update their knowledge by reading books or research or attending conferences or
training courses outside Iraq to improve and develop knowledge regarding heart diseases.
